Example 1
Often the original charts have long since been lost, and all that exists are copies of copies that have been handed down. I have sung in several groups with long traditions, where poor Xerox copies were all that remained of the original arrangements. Here’s a perfect example of what I am talking about, a few measures from a stunning arrangement of, “I’ll Take Romance”:


I would say 90 percent or more is decipherable, but it’s really a wreck. This arrangement will not be sung into the next decade because it will not sustain the next round or two of copying. But with modern software and our expertise, this arrangement can be saved. This is what your singers could be working from:
